Feature Friday

The Lenten Season is upon us and our Feature Friday showcases St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Although its exterior which was sided in 1964 with Nu-stone might make the average passersby think the building is a more recent structure, the frame church was actually erected in 1881, and in 1922 the two-story rectory was built. The postcard beautifully captures the historic interior.

Fun Fact: During the 1920s, an Irish priest who was a sports-enthusiast set up a tennis court for the village on the smooth, expansive lawn between the church and the south hillside.
