Gallery on Galena this Saturday

With Veterans Day right around the next corner, tomorrow might be a good time to schedule that stop you've been intending to make at our Gallery on Galena. We're open there from 10:00 to 1:00 every first Saturday of the month -- November 4 (already!) for tomorrow.

As most of you know, we display an intriguing collection of military and American Legion artifacts at the GoG. We also have a large display of military items in Gallery 2 at the Museum on Main, open every single Saturday.

Julie Sampson will greet you at MoM tomorrow, and Woody Wendt will be at the GoG. BTW, if you'd like to help with staffing, please let us know! We have openings every month and will team you with another T-H-S member to get started.

Tiskilwa Library board recently offered us a framed plaque of the "Service Honor Roll" that currently hangs in the foyer of the west entrance to the lib. Since that door is now used only for emergencies, TiskHistSoc is working on finding a space for display of this impressive 4 X 6 foot case, dedicated (circa 1948) "In honor of the residents of the Tiskilwa community who answered our country's call to serve during World War II." I'm posting a contemporary photo of the plaque with a reflection gives you an idea of its current location.
