WELCOME TO MEMORIAL DAY IN TISKILWA, 2021

On May 22, we filmed segments of the Memorial Day Ceremony that you will see here. Despite safety restrictions during the pandemic, Tiskilwa Historical Society didn't want this solemn day of remembrance to pass without honoring all soldiers who died in service to our country.

Jennifer Fisher, who served as emcee and edited the video, begins the ceremony with a touching tribute to those who have died and their families left behind.

This year, the Illinois Valley Quilts of Honor members asked if they could participate in this event to present patriotic quilts to Donnie Lawson, who served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, and to Jennifer Fisher who served as a Navy Corpsman from 2001 to 2006. Their families were invited to attend private ceremonies that we recorded at Tiskilwa's Gallery on Galena and East Park.

Next year, the ceremony will return to its traditional location in Tiskilwa's East Park on Monday, May 30, 2022.
