Memorial Day in Tisk

Many volunteers help to make Memorial Day a special event for our community. Thanks to those who placed flags at veterans' graves at Mount Bloom and St. Mary's Cemeteries: Mary & Jerry Zabransky and Sarah & Ian Fritz. A few Saturdays ago, the friends of Mount Bloom had a second workday at the cemetery, scrubbing down the gazebo and weeding the area: Mary Z, Phoenix & Michelle Wirth, Betsy Salsman, and Cele Gerber.

Earlier this week, Dave & Julie Sampson made the rounds to place flags at each of the 15 country school signs installed by TiskHistSoc in 2012.

The many volunteers of TCA finished the new roof on the East Park shelter in time for the Memorial Day Ceremony on May 29 at 11:00 a.m. A few TCA guys pictured here: Brett Klinefelter, Jerry Thompson (of Malden), and Barry Dugosh.

All along Main Street, Amy Kline filled the planters with colorful flowers.

It's easy to understand why Tiskilwa was recognized with the 2020 Governor's Hometown Award for volunteerism.
