MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY IN EAST PARK ON MONDAY, MAY 30
Beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Tiskilwa's East Park, U.S. Navy veteran Jennifer Fisher will host Tiskilwa Historical Society's annual ceremony. The program will include a keynote address by Mike Trench, commander, U.S. Navy retired, Oglesby Post 237. U.S. Army veteran Amy Waca and U.S. Air Force veteran Jerry Murphy will be laying wreaths at our two war memorial monuments.
Immediately following the ceremony, the historical society is hosting an open house at Gallery on Galena, the former American Legion Hall. Just south of the tracks on Galena Street, the building has been restored by T-H-S to display military memorabilia and a replica of a one-room school.

Photos show the 1992 dedication of the monument with the names of all Tiskilwa area residents who died in service to our country from World War I through the Gulf War. We recognize most of the vets in the photo, but not all. Can you help us?
In the near future, Tiskilwa Historical Society would like to add names of any Tiskilwa residents who have died in the military service in the past 30 years. We'll need help identifying those people, too, since Tiskilwa Post 346 was deactivated in 2018. The Civil War monument, recently cleaned by Tom Bicket of Tiskilwa, is once again looking bright and proud in the sunshine.
