Memorial Day 2024 Recap

Mother Nature provided another beautiful morning in the East Park for T-H-S's annual Memorial Day Ceremony, organized by Navy vet Jennifer Fisher. A good-sized crowd turned out to honor our fallen service members, dating back to the Civil War.

On my way down Cemetery Hill, I paused to record this short video of the multitude of flags at Mt. Bloom North, snapping in the breeze.

Other photos:

* Veterans Jeff Dilcher and Mike Birdsley placed wreaths at the Civil War and 1992 American Legion monuments.

* Army veteran Scott Bickett delivered the keynote speech.

* Kambri and KJ Fisher played the National Anthem and Taps.

* After the ceremony, Jennifer stopped over at the Gallery on Galena's open house, and we asked her to pose next to her Navy Corpsman uniform.

* Thanks to all the volunteers who participated in the planning, set-up, takedown of chairs of the sound system, etc. As we all know, "it doesn't just happen."
