Tiskilwa’s Gallery on Galena to Open on Labor Day

Do you have pleasant memories of your days in a country school? How about an interest in military items from your relatives’ time during their service in World War I, World War II, Korea, or Vietnam? Then come on down to Tiskilwa’s Gallery on Galena on Monday, September 7, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Gallery’s schoolroom replica offers a chance to refresh your own memories of school days or regale your grandkids with “Back in the Day” stories. The society promises that its military displays hold items of interest for everyone.

Tiskilwa Historical Society is hoping to offer occasional days such as this one, as our nation rides out the pandemic. Please wear a facial covering and observe social distancing while in the Gallery. Anyone who would like to visit either of the society’s museums at a different time may call Cecille Gerber at 815.646.4353.

Coming up on Sunday, September 13, the society will host a road trip to Hungry World Farm, southeast of Tiskilwa, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Participants are asked to drive their own vehicles to the event, meeting at the Museum on Main at 3:45 or meeting at the farm. More details about our “day in the country” visit will be available in the near future.

Tiskilwa's Gallery on Galena will be open on Monday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On GoG's previous opening on the Fourth of July, Jazzlyn and RayyLee DePauw stopped by with their great-grandmother, Jan Wagner.
