Tiskilwa’s Country Christmas Offers Variety of Holiday Cheer

With Main Street lined with cheerful Christmas trees, the holiday spirit is in the air just in time for Tiskilwa’s annual “Country Christmas” on Saturday, December 7. Several organizations and businesses will host special events throughout the morning and early afternoon. Check the Historical Society’s website tiskilwahistoricalsociety.org for specific times and details.

The morning begins with a bake sale and fellowship at the Community Church. Visitors will be welcomed at both of the historical society’s sites: the new Gallery on Galena and good old Museum on Main. In addition to crafts, the Public Library will host a new event, International Christmas. Head Librarian Lisa Bettner invites everyone to “learn about Christmas in other countries as we host International Exchange visitors to share their traditions with you.”

The sign is up and now it feels official -- Tiskilwa's new Gallery on Galena is "open for business." On December 7, T-H-S members will greet visitors between 10:00 and 12:00 -- on Tiskilwa Time, from a little before and until a little after those hours.

The Tiskilwa Inn will host “Treats and Tours” from 10:00 to 12:00, with the possible appearance of alpacas, depending on the weather. At 1:00 in community room of the Museum on Main, the Bureau County Chorus performs holiday music. Guests are invited to bring along a few items for the Bureau County Food Pantry, both as a concert “price of admission” and a good way to catch the spirit and finish off the day.
