Country Christmas Arrives in Tiskilwa on December 7

The Bureau County community is invited to walk Tiskilwa on Saturday, December 7, and catch the spirit during its annual “Country Christmas.” The Tiskilwa Historical Society is again spearheading the celebration as the town stirs up holiday cheer. All along Main Street, TCA provides evergreen trees for a decorating contest, participated in by local organizations.

One special feature of this year's Country Christmas on Saturday, December 7, will be "Tours and Treats" at the Tiskilwa Inn from 10:00 to 12:00. The new Bed & Breakfast will be all decked out for the holidays, including a display of a humorous collection of German nutcrackers, as shown in this photo.

Visitors may stop by the Museum on Main anytime between 9:00 and 2:00 to enjoy galleries decked out in a festive mood, with Lionel model trains chugging around the Christmas tree and a special showcase honoring Tiskilwa’s Country Schools. In addition, the society will again host an Open House at their new Gallery on Galena (north end of town, just south of the tracks) from 10:00 to noon.

Other events in Tiskilwa on December 7 will include a bake sale and fellowship at the Community Church beginning at 8:00 a.m.; holiday crafting at the Tiskilwa Library starting at 10:00; “Treats and Tours” at the Tiskilwa Inn as well as the Gallery on Galena from 10:00 to 12:00. Throughout the day, there will be special holiday discounts at the Alpaca Store. At 1:00 at the Museum on Main, the Bureau County Chorus will perform holiday music and encourage the audience to sing along now and then. Tiskilwa Historical Society hopes everyone will catch the spirit and enjoy the day.
